Marketplace image sizes
Amazon image requirements are a pure white background, at least 1,000 pixels on the longest side, JPEG or PNG, with the product filling 85% of the frame on the main image. Amazon recommends 2,000 pixels or more so shoppers can zoom. Etsy recommends images at least 2,000 pixels on the shortest side and shows thumbnails at 4:3. Shopify recommends 2,048 × 2,048 pixel squares.
Using the same square size across all your images keeps product pages consistent and avoids awkward crops in search results.
Frequently asked questions
What size should Amazon product images be?
+
Amazon requires at least 1,000 pixels on the longest side for zoom to work and recommends 2,000 pixels or more, with a maximum of 10,000 pixels. A 2,000 × 2,000 pixel square on a pure white background is the most common choice for main images. Use JPEG, PNG, TIFF or non-animated GIF, with JPEG preferred.
What size should Etsy listing photos be?
+
Etsy recommends listing photos that are at least 2,000 pixels on the shortest side, with a resolution of 72 PPI. Thumbnails in search are shown at a 4:3 ratio, so keep the product centred with space around it. A 3,000 × 2,250 pixel image fits the 4:3 thumbnail exactly while leaving room for zoom.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
+
No. The resizer runs entirely in your browser using the HTML canvas, so your photos never leave your device and there is no upload limit. That also makes it fast for batches: drop several photos at once, choose a preset and download each resized file.
